blogging week 4

POST A
2 vocab words: 1.) streamlined-designed or organized to give maximum efficiency; compact (pg38)
2.) mafioso-a member of a Mafia or of a mafia (pg26)
1 quote: "He was still smiling after that fag trucker was dead and he castrared that son of a b****. He wore the fag trucker's leather gloves when he did it, because the thought of actually touching the chicken-hawks privates almost made his throw up. And when he was done, he jammed that hacked-off c***into the fag trucker's mouth, calmly washed up, and walked off into the night." (pg 24-25) This was important because this was the first time he killed someone. This is also what made him kill others.

Outside reading final

Some people may know him for his soccer or maybe even his movies, but I know him as an idle. David Beckham wrote the memoir/autobiography I've been reading. The book is called Beckham.
I really think that the point of this book was a few things actually. I think one is go out and try new things. Another may be to follow your heart, not the crowd. The last thing I can think he is trying to say is follow through with what you set out for. He had to do all of these things. "Dear Posh Spice. You don't know me but I have this very strong feeling that, if we could meet somehow, I think we'd get on really well. I don't know what your schedule's like but you can find me at Old Trafford every other Saturday"(pg. 87). This is an example of how he followed his heart and not the crowd. Everybody was all just talk about Posh, he acted on his feelings about her. He really likes Posh, so he ends up marrying her. They have 2 children. An example of him trying new things is well, he had children. "Brooklyn was so uncomfortable and I hated seeing him like that" (pg. 179). The experience of seeing his child in pain hurt him, too.
I really liked this book though. It's really informative, and that's what makes it great.

Sea Inside (2)

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly and The sea Inside deal with some of the same issues. They are also very different. One similarity are that neither Ramon or Jean can move their arms, or legs. Ramon has more mobility by far though. He is actually able to move his head, and he is able to speak, unlike Jean who can not move anything. Jean and Ramon think about flying away all the time, too. Jean pictures himself at a beach, so does Ramon. They both, I'm guessing, want to be able to move freely, too. One difference is that Ramon has loved one's living with him and that he is at his own home. Jean is stuck at a hospital. Ramon was also able to actually write his own book. While Jean on the other hand had to blink for every letter.

Sea Inside (1)

Ramon had the right to die. Why the courts did not allow it was way beyond me. If someone who is in that state, and that condition wants to end their life, let them. Yes it may be illegal, but think about it. If he was not a quadriplegic then he would be able to commit suicide. With the state that he is in he is not able to. Fair? I think not. You really only get one chance to commit suicide and he wasn't even given that chance because of the law and the courts. His friends and relatives didn't want him to kill himself either because they loved him. But as he said "If you love me then you will let me get this over with." I think if they did love him then they would let him do it. They didn't love him, they loved his company. I definitely would've killed myself in that situation, too. He did what I would've done.

My book is called Beckham. The name pretty much describes the main character. Needless to say the main character is David Beckham, an English soccer player since the ripe young age of 4. He has been playing soccer his whole life. He was always the shorty, or the jock, or the kid that always got picked on. This book tells us about his journey from age 4 to now.

Edina High School

The thing I am most anxious about at Edina High School is the new learning environment. I have heard numerous times that this school is a highly rated school. One thing that i hope to do my softmore year is not only get good grades, but to also get on the EHS soccer team.
